Thompson to NIU

It didn't take long for Mount Carmel junior quarterback Anthony Thompson (6-foot-1, 195 pounds) to make his verbal commitment to Northern Illinois University and head coach Rod Carey. Thompson, who was offered a scholarship by the Huskies on Monday night called up the NIU staff and gave them his verbal commitment just minutes ago.
"I wanted a little time to talk it all over with my family and my coaches," Thompson said. "We just loved it at NIU and everyone feels I'm making a great decision. I love the program at NIU and I also love the academics as well. NIU has a great football program with a winning tradition. It's just a great fit so I decided to commit."
