Two for the Irish

Notre Dame added two Land of Lincoln Class of 2016 verbal commitments today as LaGrange Park (Ill) Nazareth Academy junior three star ranked defensive back recruit Julian Love (5-foot-11, 175 pounds) and Loyola Academy junior long snapper John Shannon (6-foot-2, 235 pounds) added scholarship offers and pledged to the Fighting Irish.
"I knew that if Notre Dame offered me I was ready to commit," Julian Love said. "I just knew for awhile that Notre Dame was the place for me. It's where my heart is at and once Coach (Brian) Kelly offered me it was over. I committed to Notre Dame."

Love talked about what stands out to him about Notre Dame?
"It's just the family environment along with the strong tradition of Notre Dame. It's the entire community that's pretty special and I knew that's where I wanted to spend my college career. The Notre Dame coaches last week hinted that they would offer me. I knew going in if they offered I was ready to commit to Notre Dame."
So who else did Love look at before making his decision today?
"I considered both Northwestern and Boston College."
The Fighting Irish also landed one of the nation's top long snappers in Loyola Academy junior John Shannon (6-foot-2, 235 pounds) who also plays linebacker for the Ramblers and head coach John Holocek.
"I just committed to Notre Dame a little while ago," according to Shannon. "Notre Dame offered me a full scholarship and I couldn't pass that up. I will be the third generation from my family to play for Notre Dame and it's been my dream school for a long time. I couldn't pass up the tradition, the education along with the coaches and the location. Everything that Notre Dame has to offer is pretty amazing and I'm very excited about my decision today and so is my family."
Both Julian Love and John Shannon are verbally committed to Notre Dame.
