Two new offers in for Thorne
Naperville (Ill.) Central junior quarterback recruit Payton Thorne (6-foot-2, 185 pounds) was able to add two new scholarship offers so far this week in Bowling Green and Central Michigan. Thorne checks in and recaps his latest recruiting news here.
"It feels good to add a few new offers," Thorne said. "Bowling Green offered me earlier this week and Central Michigan offered me today (Wednesday)."
Thorne filled us in on his thoughts regarding adding his latest offers.
"Bowling Green was in school earlier in the week and they watched me throw. Central Michigan was in earlier this month and they also watched me throw back then. Central Michigan called my head coach (Mike Stine) and asked if I could call them back and that's when CMU offered me. It's great to get offers from both schools. I don't know a lot about wither school but I'll definitely look into them soon."
Thorne has also seen more and more recruiting attention this month.
"We've been seeing several college coaches in school over the past few weeks. Besides Bowling Green and Central Michigan, we've also seen coaches from Toledo, Miami of Ohio, Princeton and NIU just this week. We also had Boston College, Iowa State, Iowa and Wisconsin in school last week. The feedback from the coaches has been positive, Several of the bigger Power 5 schools have said they would be back in to watch me throw in the spring."
Thorne also made a campus visit last weekend to Western Michigan.
"I had an awesome visit to Western Michigan last weekend. I just have a good connection with the coaches at WMU including head coach Tim Lester. WMU also has great facilities plus it's pretty close to home. I also really like Kalamazoo and the whole area and I was able to just get a better feel for the coaches and the school."
Does Thorne have any upcoming visits planned?
"I'm planning to head out to Toledo this weekend for a visit. I also want to get out and see Bowling Green, Central Michigan soon."
Payton Thorne has scholarship offers from Cincinnati, Western Michigan, Bowling Green and Central Michigan.
