Oswego (Ill.) senior offensive guard recruit Austin Warner (6-foot-4, 270 pounds) went to Saturday's NIU Big Dawg camp and came home verbally committed to the NIU Huskies. Warner talks about his decision here.
"I just didn't expect to be already committed to be honest," Warner said. "I went to the NIU Big Dawg camp on Saturday, did well, they offered me and now I'm fully committed to NIU."

Warner filled us in on his wild day last Saturday at NIU.
"I almost didn't go to the Big Dawg camp at NIU on Saturday because I wasn't feeling too great in the morning. I decided to go and I'm pretty happy I did. I felt that I had a pretty good camp. I was able to work well with the NIU coaches. Towards the end of the camp head coach Rod Carey came over and asked me to go get my Dad. We talked and Coach Carey said he was thinking about offering me a scholarship. Coach Carey said that NIU was going to offer just four offensive linemen and that they already had one commitment. I left campus and went and we called my Mom and talked things over. We all knew that I wanted to commit so we went back NIU offered me and I gave Coach Carey my verbal commitment."
So why NIU?
"NIU is close to home, they offer a great education and it's everything I was looking for in a school. The football program has been just exceptional and they just keep getting better and better. I love the facilities and the coaches seem like great guys at NIU. My parents also like NIU and they entire family is excited for my decision. NIU worked me out at center and they also had me at guard for most of the camp."
Warner is thrilled to have his recruiting process completed.
"It's just pretty crazy to be honest. I just couldn't imagine anything like this happening and it feels pretty amazing."
Austin Warner is verbally committed to Northern Illinois University.
