Highland (Ill.) junior wide receiver/safety prospect Sam Laporta (6-foot-4, 205 pounds) is a high level two-sport athlete for Highland and head coach Jimmy Warnecke this coming season. Get to know this latest underclassmen name to watch here.

"We are on a break this week from team camp," Laporta said. "I've been just resting up a bit and getting ready to go on for the first day of practice on Monday."

Laporta, who also has been jugging both football and basketball camps this summer filled us in on his summer camp travels.

"I was able to camp at Illinois for an in campus one day camp and I felt the camp went well. I also camped at Lindenwood satellite camp that had the coaches from Nebraska. The Nebraska coaches really liked me and they invited me to it's Friday Night Lights camp. The Friday Night Lights camp was crazy. They had like 20,000 fans watching high school kids workout in a camp. Nebraska just gets great fan support and it was a lot of fun. The Nebraska coaches said they liked my game and want me to stay in touch with them this fall. The Nebraska coaches also want me to send them my early video this season."

Laporta, who is a strong student in the class room is a two-sport athlete (football/basketball) is also a versatile player.

"I'm set to play wide receiver along with safety on defense. I love playing both ways and I've been a starter on the varsity since my freshman year. I also play basketball but I'm looking at football a bit harder when it comes college and recruiting. I love playing basketball and if any offers came up I'm definitely open to the idea but my main focus is on the football side."

Does Laporta have a dream school??

"I've always been a big fan of Ohio State. I just always remember turning on the TV and seeing Ohio State play."

Laporta is also excited about the Highland the Bulldogs for coming season.

"We've looked really good this summer. We bring back a lot of starters back from last year."

Sam Laporta has a scholarship offer from Lindenwood University.
