Get to know this latest Name to Watch in the Class of 2018 here.

"NIU offered me a scholarship on Saturday when I was visiting for the Junior Day," Dehaan said. "It was a great feeling to add my first offer from NIU on Saturday."

Dehaan recapped his first on campus visit to NIU.

"Saturday was my first visit to NIU and my Dad also went along. I had a great visit. I really liked the campus and the coaches at NIU are great guys. The coaches really stood out to my at NIU. I had a great talk with my recruiting coach Mike Uremovich and all of the coaches at NIU just made me feel welcomed. NIU offered me as a more of a tight end for them but they also said they like me as a defensive end. It seems like most schools are looking at me for now as a defensive end recruit."

Dehaan has continued to draw recruiting looks and interest this winter.

"Besides NIU I've also been hearing from Miami of Ohio, Illinois State, Purdue, Princeton, Dartmouth and also Minnesota. I'm planning to visit Miami of Ohio this Saturday for another Junior Day. My dream school would be Northwestern. Coach Pat Fitzgerald played at Sandburg and is from the area. Northwestern offers great academics along with playing in the Big Ten."

Dehaan, who is a strong student in the class room filled us in on his strengths on the field along with his focus this winter.

"I have good size and speed and length. I spend a lot of time with film study and I also have pretty good overall awareness on the field. I'm working on adding more weight this off-season. I'm playing basketball for my school this winter so once the season is done I'm going to really lock in and add good weight and size. I'm also working on improving my overall agility."

Mike Dehaan has a scholarship offer from Northern Illinois University.
