Watch List: Ty Gavin

Niles Ill. Notre Dame junior running back prospect Ty Gavin (5-foot-11, 175 pounds) is off to a strong start so far this season for the Dons. Get to know this latest name to watch in the growing Class of 2019 here. .

"It was a tough loss (28-15 last Friday to Nazareth Academy)," Gavin said. "We just need to get back to work this week and focus now on beating Joliet Catholic."

Gavin talked about his latest recruiting news.

"I haven't heard for a ton of schools just yet. Purdue was in school last spring and so was Western Michigan. I grew up a Big Ten fan and the dream for me would be getting to play in the Big Ten conference in college. I'd say I'm more of a Penn State fan. I'm just focused on going out and playing as best as I can and helping my team wins games. Hopefully more colleges will take noice of me this fall."

Gavin, who ran for 901 yards and 16 touchdowns in 7 games last season discussed what his strengths are on the field.

"I feel I have good vision and I just see the entire field pretty well. I also try to read my blocks and I also feel I have pretty good speed. I also can get in and out of my cuts pretty well. My main focus this past off-season was just adding more weight, size and getting stronger. I definitely feel stronger this year and the added strength has helped me."

Does Gavin have any personal goals for this season?

"I set a few personal goals each season and our team goals always come first. I want to be an All State player this year. I also want to break the Notre Dame rushing records and also the all time rushing record. I'm off to a good start this year and I also had some good numbers from last season so I think I have a decent shot."
