Westendorf adds his first offer

St. Charles (Ill.) North junior offensive tackle recruit Alex Westendorf (6-foot-5, 285 pounds) was able to add his first scholarship offer on Monday from South Dakota State. Westendorf discusses his first offer from the Jackrabbits and much more in this recruiting update.

"It feels pretty great to get my first offer from South Dakota State," Westendorf said. "It takes a lot of pressure off. Hopefully this will make some other schools take a look at me and I'm just excited about the offer from SDSU."

Westendorf gave us his thoughts on South Dakota State.

"I honestly don't know too much about South Dakota State but I'm going to research them soon. I do know that they play in the Missouri Valley Conference which is a great football conference. I've been in touch with the SDSU coaches for a few weeks now and they seem like really good guys. Online it looks like a really nice school and they are also an FCS school so it's good sized but also not too overwhelming from an enrollment standpoint. I'm going to visit South Dakota State on April 13th and I'm looking forward to seeing what they have to offer."

Westendorf has also been in touch with a handful of new schools.

"I've been able to talk recently with the coaches from Princeton, Indiana State, Ball State and also Purdue. Most of those schools want me to come out and visit them, and watch either a spring practice or a spring game."

Does Westendorf have any upcoming on campus visits planned?

"I'm going to visit Purdue on March 31st. I'm going to get out to see more schools I'm in the process now of setting up some dates and I'll have it all sorted out soon."
