Jody Ellis without question was drawing more and more recruiting interest this offseason. Ellis had official visits set for Iowa and Notre Dame in January, and several schools looked to be on the verge of offering this standout wide receiver and defensive back. According to Johnson, "Jody was getting alot of late interest, but his official visit to Illinois last week went extremely well and that was the clincher."
Jody Ellis was recruited by the Fighting Illini as an athlete. Ellis played both receiver and defensive back for the Wildkits, and Ellis has excellent athletic ability and skills. Ellis was named to the 2003 EDGYTIM.com All State Defensive team in 2003.
