WR Pierce adds his first offer

Glen Ellyn (Ill.) Glenbard West junior wide receiver recruit Alec Pierce (6-foot-4, 185 pounds) was able to add his first scholarship offer on Tuesday when Illinois State extended an offer.

"Illinois State offered me a scholarship today (Tuesday)," Pierce said. "It feels great to get an offer from Illinois State."

Pierce talked about initial impressions of the in-state Illinois State Redbirds.

"I know that Illinois State is an FCS level school and that they are pretty close to home. I also know that the Bears wide receiver Cam Meredith played at Illinois State. The Illinois State wide receiver coach (Kane Keirnan) also went to my high school and we've talked a bit. I haven't had a chance to visit Illinois State yet but I'm planning to go to a Junior Day at Illinois State soon."

Pierce has also drawn more recruiting looks this winter.

"Besides Illinois State I've also been in touch with several Ivy League schools. I've talked to the coaches from Harvard, Yale, Cornell and a few others along with Western Michigan, Iowa and Central Michigan."

Pierce is also expecting to make more college visits soon.

"Besides Illinois State I'm looking to visit Central Michigan and Western Michigan sometime soon. I'm also considering heading out to the East Coast over spring break and visiting some of the Ivy League schools."
