WR Pierce to Cincinnati

Glen Ellyn (Ill.) Glenbard West senior wide receiver recruit Alec Pierce (6-foot-3, 191 pounds) made an official visit this past weekend to Cincinnati and on Monday night gave the Bearcats his verbal commitment.

"I had a great official visit to Cincinnati and I decided that I was ready to commit," Pierce said. "The visit really sold me on Cincinnati in several ways. I liked the school and the city, plus I also got along great with the coaches and the players. I really liked it all."

Pierce, who was recruited by Cincinnati as a wide receiver felt that the overriding selling point to him was the coaching staff at Cincinnati.

"The coaches and the entire staff at Cincinnati really impressed me. They have a great idea of what they want to do and where they are going. I just really like what they are doing with the football program and I wanted to be a part of it. I also was really impressed with the school, the college and everything they have to offer. The campus is really cool and I love how the stadium is basically in the middle of campus. The coaches and the players along with the other recruits are all just great guys and I felt like I was already a part of the team and that I fit in well."

Pierce, who was an All Area and All Conference receiver who also played defensive end in 2017 is also thrilled to have his recruiting process completed.

"I couldn't be more excited to say I'm committed to Cincinnati. I just was not a huge fan of the recruiting process to be honest. I just did not like the camps and I also didn't like having to just wait on the coaches to make a decision. I can just enjoy the rest of my senior year and then get ready for college."

Pierce, who was recruited to Cincinnati by offensive coordinator Mike Denbrock is one of four known Chicagoland recruits in the Bearcats Class of 2018. Pierce joins Lyons Township three star ranked QB Ben Bryant, Chicago Mount Carmel two star ranked OL Jeremy Cooper and Simeon three star ranked wide receiver Jayshon Johnson. Pierce is also the 21st overall known verbal commitment for Cincinnati in the Class of 2018.
