WR Reed pledges to WMU

Aurora (IL) Metea Valley junior wide receiver recruit Jayden Reed (5-foot-10, 160 pounds) decided to end his recruiting process today and gave Western Michigan his verbal commitment.

"I chose Western Michigan because I feel it's going to be a great fit" Reed said. "When you feel at home there is no need to keep search so I committed."

So why commit to Western Michigan?

"I felt that I could be a great fit in their offense. Western Michigan has a great coaching staff and me and my family were very thrilled about the school when we went to visit. I never thought I would be as comfortable with a coaching staff but the WMU coaches really stood out. You can only have one school to pick from no matter how many options you have. As long as you find a home that's all that really matters."

Reed is now the fourth State of Illinois commitment in the Broncos Class of 2018 and joins Lakes OLB Ryan Selig, Rich Central safety Matthew Stuckey Jr. and DeLaSalle outside linebacker Joe Bonds. Did the fellow State of Illinois pledges play a factor for Reed?

"I really don't know any of the other Illinois kids who have already committed but I'm sure I'll get to know them better. It relieves a lot of pressure to have committed. I'm sure I'll still hear from other schools but I'm very happy with my decision."
