WR/S Laporta recaps his recruiting

Highland (Ill.) junior wide receiver/safety prospect Sam Laporta (6-foot-4, 200 pounds) and the Bulldogs (5-0) are state ranked and are also off to a great start this season. Laporta, who is playing on both sides of the football this fall also has started to draw increased recruiting attention this season.

"The season has been going well," Laporta said. "I've been playing on both sides of the football and that's exactly how I like it. I never leave the field and I just love playing both receiver and safety."

Laporta has also started to draw more recruiting looks this fall.

"I've been starting to get in touch with more and more schools and it's pretty exciting. I've been invited to college games at Northwestern, Iowa State, Miami of Ohio. I've also been in touch lately with the coaches from Wyoming and South Dakota State. The coaches just want me to stay in touch with them and to get to know me better."

Will Laporta get out to visit some college games this season?

"I went and visited Lindenwood (D2) last weekend and that was a good visit and experience. Outside of that I don't have anything scheduled yet. Lindenwood is really close to home so it was easy to visit but it's been hard for me to get out during the season so far."

So how has Laporta been playing so far this year?

"My season has been going really well so far this year and I'd give myself an A so far since we are 5-0. I worked really hard last off-season on improving my overall speed and route running. I can definitely feel a big difference and I'm getting more separation this year."
