WR Stewart recaps Illini visit

Bolingbrook (Ill.) junior wide receiver recruit I'Shawn Stewart (5-foot-11, 160 pounds) made a visit to Illinois on Thursday. Stewart, who already has a handful of offers so far this summer talked about his visit to Illinois and much more in this update.

"I went out to Illinois today (Thursday)," Stewart said. "I wanted to just go down and watch the team in practice. It was a good chance to see the new Illinois coaches working with the team."

Stewart, who already holds an early offer from the Fighting Illini recapped his impressions from Thursday's Illinois practice.

"It was great and I had a great time. I got to see the team practice and I talked to some of the Illinois coaches. I also had a chance to see more things on campus that I hadn't seen before. I was impressed at seeing how the players are believing in what the coaches are trying to do at Illinois."

So does Stewart have any upcoming visit plans?

"No that's it for now. Now I'm just focused on the season and we report for practice on Monday."

So who else has Stewart remained in touch with this summer?

"Besides Illinois I've also been to Iowa for a visit. I stay in touch with Arkansas and I visited them awhile back. They really like me and it's an issue of me being able to show them I can add a bit more weight before they offer me. I also have been in touch lately with Missouri."

Stewart, who missed most of his 2015 season due to injury can't wait to get back out on the field.

"I sat out almost the entire season last year and that was tough. I'm just really excited to get back on the field."

So how do the Raiders look this summer?

"We look really good. Our offense is clicking and is on track. We look strong on offense and defense."

I'Shawn Stewart and Bolingbrook will open the 2016 IHSA football season on Friday, August 26th hosting defending Class 7A state champion Glenbard West.

I'Shawn Stewart has scholarship offers from Illinois, Iowa and Nevada.
