2020 Barrett adds his first offer
St. Charles (IL) East sophomore offensive tackle recruit Dylan Barrett (6-foot-5, 285 pounds) was able to land his first offer on Monday from in-state Northern Illinois University. Barrett discusses adding his first offer from the nearby NIU Huskies and more in this update.
"NIU offered me a scholarship today and it's pretty incredible," Barrett said. "I truly had no idea that NIU would offer me. God is good and my family is also just really proud and excited for me."
Barrett filled us in on his impressions and thoughts of adding his first offer from NIU.
"The NIU coaches made an in school visit and they told my coaches that they really liked my highlight video and that they wanted to get me on campus soon for a visit. Before they left school they told my coaches that NIU was ready to offer me a scholarship. My coach (Bryce Farquhar) called my parents before he told me so they also knew right away. It just feels awesome to have added my first offer from NIU. They have a great program and it's also really close to home. I have some family who are NIU alums so I'm really familiar with the school and the football program. I'm sure I'll get out to visit NIU soon."
Barrett has also seen a growing number of college coaches in school.
"Besides the NIU coaches, we've also seen coaches from Purdue, Ball State, Illinois State in school lately. Illinois was in last week and also Oklahoma called and talked to my coaches and they are planning to be in school over the next week or two."
Barrett is also planning to get out to make some college visits soon.
"I'm going to get out to visit NIU soon along with Illinois and Western Michigan. I've also gotten several spring ball invitations. I want to get out and see some spring football at schools like Northwestern, Illinois, Miami of Ohio, Western Michigan along with a few other schools."
