Glenwood at Sacred Heart Griffin

EDGY's Take: Sacred Heart Griffin (6-0) and theKen Leonard Farewell Blowout Tour of the Central State 8 has been a big hit as the Cyclones have scored 337 points in six games this fall led by senior QB Ty Lott and a very talented and deep lineup including Air Force commit WR Keshon Singleton, RB Richard Jackson along with WR Kyle Long. SHG senior LB Corey West leads a very strong Cyclones defense this season. Glenwood (5-1) and head coach David Hay take on longtime rival SHG looking to upset the Cyclones on Friday night. The Titans will look towards QB Jack Knutson to lead a very solid passing attack that features several key receivers including WR Miles Stapleton and WR Drew Dwyer.

Biggest storyline? Can the Glenwood defense limit the big play ability of the SHG offense? Can the Titan make the Cyclones play a full four quarters this season? Can SHG 40 point clock run the entire Central State 8 conference in 2022?

EDGY's Pick: SHG 62 Glenwood 21

Simeon vs Kenwood at Lane Stadium

EDGY's Take: Simeon (6-0) and longtime head coach Dante Culbreath is making his final season as the Wolverines head coach a memorable one. Simeon has gotten a huge season from senior RB Andre Crews who runs behind a big, physical and experience offensive line anchored by senior Jose Manning and junior Sean Goodrum. The passing game for Simeon has also developed this fall with junior QB Keshawn Parker who has top top targets in senior 4 star ranked WR Malik Elzy (Cincinnati) and senior WR Cameron Ashley. The Simeon defense is also talent heavy and sophomore DL Chris Burgess and junior Mikeshun Beeler are names on the rise this fall. Kenwood and head coach Sinque Turner is also never short on high level talent. The Broncos will look towards senior leaders in WR Logan Lester (Western Michigan) along with senior DB Kahlil Tate (Iowa) along with senior LB K'Vion Thunderbird while junior DE Marquise Lightfoot is already a nationally sought after recruit in the Class of 2024. A big key this season for Kenwood has been the improved quarterback play as junior QB Kevari Thunderbird, a high level baseball prospect who has also been impressive leading the Broncos offense.

Biggest storyline? Can the Simeon offense control the line of scrimmage and wear down the Kenwood defense? Can Kenwood limit the overall penalties and turnovers that have plagued them at times this season?

EDGY's Pick: Simeon 29 Kenwood 13

Cary Grove at Jacobs

EDGY's Take: Defending Class 6A state champs Cary Grove (3-3) and head coach Brad Seaburg is in unfamiliar territory this season, as the Trojans are almost at a must win scenario in Week 7. The Trojans have been working in a very young team this fall and the always potent run game is spearheaded by RB Colin Desmet and RB Andrew Prio. Jacobs and head coach Brian Zimmerman also wants to run the football and RB Antonio Brown is the go to guy along with RB Joey Scrivani. The Golden Eagles also have a solid play action passing game with QB Max Bennett leading the attack along with two standout receivers in senior TE Nick True and Power 5 recruit junior TE Grant Stec.

Biggest storyline? Can either team slow down the other's power running game? Will the Jacobs play action passing game be a different maker if needed? Can Cary Grove finish the regular season strong starting with a quality win on the road at Jacobs?

EDGY's Pick: Jacobs 31 Cary Grove 28

Plainfield North art Minooka

EDGY's Take: Plainfield North (6-0) and head coach Anthony Imbordino was expected to have a strong season, but very few expected a perfect 6-0 record at this stage. The Tigers are getting a big season from senior QB Demir Ashiru who has been a threat with both the run and the pass while RB John St Clair has sparked the North running attack this fall. The North defense has also allowed just 38 points all season. Minooka (5-1) and head coach Marr Harding has found a way to five wins so far this season. Minooka will rely on it's veteran offensive line and and strong running game then will mix in play action passed with QB Gavin Dooley. RB Joey Partridge has become a go to player on offense for Minooka while LB Eferim Ramirez leads a less experienced defense that has made impressive strifes since Week 1.

Biggest storyline? Can the Minooka defense limit the Plainfield North big play ability? Can the Minooka offense continue to grind it's way against a very strong Plainfield North defense?

EDGY's Pick: Minooka 21 Plainfield North 20

Lincoln Way East at Homewood Flossmoor

EDGY's Take: Lincoln Way East (6-0) has been rolling all season long behind a steady and balanced offensive attack along with a defense that just makes all comers earn every yard and every point. The Griffins have been getting a big season from junior QB Braden Tischer and a very strong group of offensive skills including senior RB James Kwiecinski (5-foot-11. 180 pounds), senior RB Petey Olaleye (5-foot-8, 195 pounds) along with senior WR Jimmy Curtin (6-foot-0, 185 pounds), senior WR/DB Jayden Cook (6-foot-1, 185 pounds) plus sophomore tight end Trey Zvonar (6-foot-4, 195 pounds). The Griffins defense is also speedy, experienced and just very disciplined and keep an eye on senior ILB Jake Scianna along with sophomore DE Caden O'Rourke. Homewood Flossmoor and head coach Terrell Alexander has been able to bring along a Vikings team that just didn't play like a team on the same page in 2021. Senior QB Cameron Olgesby is a true dual threat for the Vikings and Olgelsby has a deep group of very solid backs and receivers. The Vikings defense also has talent and keep an eye on senior LB Christian McKinney (Miami of Ohio) along with senior DE Tyson Beck.

Biggest storyline? Can the East defense limit the Vikings play action passing game and limit the H-F big play potential? Can the H-F defense limit time of possession against the East offense?

EDGY's Pick: Lincoln Way East 35 H-F 21
