Chicago (Ill.) Marist junior cornerback recruit Robert Topps (6-foot-2, 180 pounds) has added three early scholarship offers and could wind up becoming one of the top defensive backs in the Land of Lincoln's Class of 2017.

"I just added offers recently from New Mexico and Wyoming," Topps said. "I also had an earlier offer from Western Michigan. My recruiting has been going well and it's been pretty exciting so far."

Topps also made an unofficial visit last Saturday to Cincinnati.

"I went to visit Cincinnati on Saturday for a Junior Day and that visit went well. I was impressed with the facilities at Cincinnati and they also have an experienced coaching staff. I also like the fact that Cincinnati is more of an urban campus. Being from Chicago it felt good to have the campus in the middle of the city. The coaches want me to stay in touch and overall it was a good visit."

Topps is also planning to make more visits soon.

"I've been to Western Michigan twice so far for visits and I also like it a lot at WMU. I'm planning to visit Wisconsin on April 16th. I'm also looking to get out to visit NIU sometime in April. I've also been getting more interest from Miami of Ohio along with the new offers from New Mexico and Wyoming."

Topps, who's Redhawks team made it to the Class 8A state title game in 2015 is also excited for the Redhawks chances in 2016.

"I really think this coming season is the time it all comes together for us. We had a young and inexperienced team last year. This year we bring back a ton of experience and it's going to be exciting."

Robert Topps has scholarship offers from New Mexico, Wyoming and Western Michigan.
