Tinley Park (Ill.) junior defensive end prospect Carlos Hazelwood (6-foot-5, 255 pounds) is a big and physical name to watch in the Class of 2024. Hazelwood checks in and breaks down his latest recruiting news this winter and more in this latest recruiting update.

"My recruiting has been going pretty well," Hazelwood said. "We had a lot of college coaches in school last month and I've been just training and working out this winter. I'm lifting with my team at school and also working out with my defensive line trainer Demetrius Cooper and Coach (Tristian) Stovall."

Hazelwood filled us in on his latest recruiting news this winter.

"I've been in contact with and made a visit to see Michigan State. Also the coaches from NIU have been in school along with the coaches from Illinois, South Dakota, Holy Cross, Central Michigan, St. Thomas plus Illinois State, Idaho and Jackson State. I've made visits to Michigan State, Iowa State, Northwestern along with Valparaiso. I'm planning to make a visit to see South Dakota State on April 14th and I also want to get out to see Holy Cross sometime this spring."

So what have the college coaches been telling Hazelwood this off season and what has the overall feedback been?

"The college coaches all like my athleticism and how I run. They all want me to work on my stance and my overall technique. A lot of those same coaches all want to see me visit them in person this spring and also camp with them this summer. The college coaches also said they would be back in school to see me this spring."

Hazelwood reflected on his 2022 junior season along with filling us in what part of his game needs to improve this off season.

"OverallI felt good about how I came off the snap last season. I was also able to do a better job of just making better reads and seeing play develop. I definitely keep working on just having better overall technique and also staying lower. I'm also really locked into the weight room this off season and I want to add more strength."

Does Hazelwood have a dream school?

"Oh it's definitely Michigan State. They have been my dream school ever since I was a little kid. I've just have always loved the Spartans, but when it comes to my recruiting I'm open to everyone who is interested in me."
