DE Sullivan flips for Purdue

Plainfield (IL) East senior two star ranked defensive end recruit Jack Sullivan (6-foot-6, 245 pounds) tonight decided to flip his verbal commitment from Northern Illinois to Purdue. Sullivan discusses his change of heart and his decision here.

"It was a hard phone call I made to NIU tonight but it's a call and a decision I felt I needed to make," Sullivan said. "Purdue is just too good of an opportunity for me to pass up so I committed to Purdue today."

Sullivan explained why he decided to decommit from NIU and give the Purdue Boilermakers his verbal commitment.

"Purdue has been interested in me for a while now. I was able to visit Purdue about a month ago with my Dad and we had a really good visit. I went back with my Mom for a revisit and that's when I decided to commit to Purdue. Purdue offers a Big Ten education along with a chance to play at the highest level of football in college. I just came away with such a positive vibe at Purdue and they are headed in the right direction with Coach Brohm and his staff. Purdue offered me as a defensive end."

Sullivan drew some other Big Ten looks this spring and early summer but Purdue offered everything he was looking for in a football program and a school.

"Purdue feels just like a great fit for me on so many levels. Academics have always been a top priority for me and Purdue just offers so many opportunities in and outside of the class room. I looked into Iowa a bit and had some interest from some others but Purdue always just felt like the best place for me."

Sullivan also admitted that backing away from his original NIU pledge wasn't easy.

"NIU and the coaches at NIU have been nothing but great to me. It was a hard decision but I also just felt like I couldn't say no to Purdue and no playing in the Big Ten."

Jack Sullivan is verbally committed to Purdue.
