Granite City (Ill.) junior quarterback recruit Freddy Edwards (5-foot-11, 180 pounds) was able to add his first offer on Wednesday from Iowa State. Edwards discusses adding his first offer from the Cyclones and more in this latest recruiting update.

"It's pretty crazy and I'm really pumped" Edwards said after adding his first offer from Iowa State. "It's exciting. I just never thought that Iowa State would offer me this opportunity this early."

Edwards filled us in on his first offer from Iowa State.

"My head coach (Brad Hasquin) has been in touch with the Iowa State coaches and I was asked to call Coach Nate (Scheelhaase) and that's when Iowa State offered me a scholarship. Coach Nate said he loved my video along with the rest of the Iowa State coaches. Iowa State also offered me as a quarterback which is my main position. Iowa State wants me to come out for a visit and I'm planning to go see the school this summer for a camp. I still need to do more research on Iowa State but I've heard a lot of good things about the school and the football program."

Edwards also recapped his latest spring recruiting news.

"We haven't seen any of the college coaches in school just yet but my head coach (Brad Hasquin) said that more and more college coaches are setting up dates now to stop into school soon. I've gotten some contact and interest from Kentucky, Syracuse, Iowa, Iowa State, Missouri along with Illinois and Indiana."

Also look for Edwards to stay busy this summer.

"I'm looking at going to several college camps this summer. I'm planning to camp at Iowa State, Iowa, Illinois, Purdue and also Missouri."
