Miamen recaps his latest visit

Dunlap (Ill.) junior tight end recruit Josiah Miamen (6-foot-4, 220 pounds) made a weekend visit to nearby Illinois State University for a Junior Day event. Miamen checks in and recaps his latest recruiting news here.

"I was able to go visit Illinois State last weekend," Miamen said. "They offered me a awhile ago and it was good to get out and learn more about the football program."

Miamen filled us in on his impressions after his ISU visit.

"They (Illinois State) had a lot of recruits in and had a recruiting presentation. It was my first visit to ISU as a recruit and it went well. ISU is definitely heading in the right direction. They have a good coaching staff and they have a chance to be really good and they also have big plans."

Miamen has also been in contact with some new schools this winter.

"I've been in touch with Western Michigan, Northwestern and Miami of Ohio along with the Illinois coaches. I've also started getting followed on Twitter by the Michigan State coaches along with Boise State and Iowa."

Does Miamen have any upcoming college visits planned?

"I'm looking more towards the spring to make more visits. I'm definitely going to visit Northwestern and I'm also hoping to visit several schools this spring."

Miamen also decided to stop playing basketball this winter and is now focused solely on football this winter.

"I decided to focus on just lifting and getting ready for football. The coaches agree that my future will be in football and they totally supported my decision. I'm in the weight room lifting with my team now and then I'm also working with a speed trainer. I'm also working with Clayton Glasper who played for Richwoods then at NIU. He's been working with me on my receiver skills and giving me different tips and drills."

Josiah Miamen has scholarship offers from Illinois and Illinois State.
