Kankakee (IL) Bishop McNamara senior two star ranked offensive tackle recruit Dylan Deatherage (6-foot-6, 270 pounds) thought he was all set with his college plans, yet that all changed when PJ Fleck left Western Michigan to take the Minnesota job. Deatherage discusses what's next for him and his recruiting process here.
"I wasn't really surprised that Coach (PJ) Fleck left Western Michigan," Deatherage said. "It's just tough to deal with since I have been committed to Coach Fleck and Western Michigan for a while now. I don't blame Coach (PJ) Fleck for taking the job. He's just doing what is best for his family and I wish him nothing but the best."
Deatherage was able to add two quick offers after reopening his recruiting process.
"Both Ohio University and Ball State offered me a scholarship right away. It seems like a lot of the MAC schools are very interested and they are planning to get ahold of me once the dead period is over with later this week. Illinois also has some interest. Illinois was always high on my list but they didn't offer me early. When WMU offered me I was ready to commit since the program was headed in the right direction so I really didn't give any other schools much of a chance."
So what's next for Deatherage?
"I'm going to make an official visit this weekend to Western Michigan. WMU is still very much an option for me and they are having us on campus this weekend. I'm just very open right now. I definitely will also consider making some official visits so the schools who have just offered me."
Dylan Deatherage has scholarship offers from Western Michigan, Ball State and Ohio.
