Chicago (IL) Phillips senior quarterback recruit J'Bore Gibbs (6-foot-3, 200 pounds) decided to give South Dakota State his verbal commitment over this past weekend. Gibbs talks about his decision here.

"I was ready to make my decision so I committed," Gibbs said. "South Dakota State is a good school, they offer my major (engineering) and I also know guys already on the team so I feel good about my decision."

Gibbs discussed why he decided to pledge to the SDSU Jackrabbits.

"(Former Phillips defensive back) Donald (Gardner) is already on the team at SDSU and I've been talking to him a lot about the school and the football program. Donald has nothing but good things to say about the coaches and the school. I also have a really good connection with all of the coaches at SDSU. It feels like the same communication and relationship I have with my coaches at Phillips so I feel really comfortable with them. I haven't been able to get out to visit SDSU just yet. I was planning to visit back on Friday but we couldn't make it al the last minute. I definitely will get out to visit SDSU soon."

Gibbs, who was offered by the Jacks as a quarterback recruit also pointed towards the overall academics and football program's success as factors in his decision.

"I plan to major in engineering and SDSU offers my major. They also have like 19 guys on the team that already major in engineering so I'll be able to play football and study what I want to study in college which is important to me. The football program has also been really good and they also play in a great conference (Missouri Valley)."

Gibbs is excited to put his recruiting process behind him.

"I'm really happy to make my decision. The hardest part of the recruiting process was how things can changer so quickly. I had an offer from a school like Eastern Michigan. I did some research on them and started to get to know the coaches and all of a sudden they already got a commitment and the offer was gone. I can just focus on my senior season and my team."

J'Bore Gibbs is verbally committed to South Dakota State.
