Rowell pledges to NIU

Elmhurst(Ill.) Immaculate Conception three star ranked senior running back recruit Jordan Rowell (6-foot-2, 188 pounds) is decided tonight to end his recruiting process and gave nearby Northern Illinois University his verbal commitment.

"I'm just very excited about my decision to commit to NIU," Rowell said. "In the end I just wanted to go to NIU. I've visited twice and each time I've really enjoyed it. NIU has always been one of my favorite teams growing up because they are so close to home."

Rowell, who had multiple scholarship offers this summer went into detail on why he pledged to the NIU Huskies.

"I was pretty amazed at the beauty of the campus at NIU along with just the great football program and the coaches. NIU is very close to home but I think I know just one person going to NIU right now so it will be close to home but also a brand new experience for me as well. I just absolutely loved it at NIU and even when I first visited it was pretty cold in DeKalb but I had a warm feeling inside for NIU and that's never left me."

Rowell, who was recruited and offered by the NIU Huskies as a running back recruit wants to be a part of helping to lead NIU to even higher levels of success.

"NIU is a place where I can earn a great degree. NIU is an underrated school and I'm an underrated recruit. It's a perfect fit. NIU offered and recruited me as a running back but it's not a big factor. Whether I'm at running back or safety it's all good. I'm just excited about my choice."

So is Rowell happy to have his college choice completed?

"I'm very happy and it feels like a thousand pound weight off of me. I would say the hardest part of the recruiting process is having to hurt other coaches feelings. I could never let the coaches recruiting me find out about my decision over text or social media so I made sure to call all of them. I try to be a good person and respectful and made sure the coaches knew from me personally my decision. It was a hard thing to do but I felt it was also the right thing to do."

Jordan Rowell is verbally committed to Northern Illinois University.
