Oswego (Ill.) junior offensive tackle prospect Gustavo Guzman (6-foot-7, 285 pounds) has the eyeball passing physical tools and has been drawing steady recruiting attention and interest from multiple schools this winter. "This winter I've been just working out and lifting with my team along with doing speed training," Guzman said. "We had a lot of college coaches in school in January and I've been getting follows and contact from quite a few schools."
Guzman, who is also a strong student in the class room filled us in on his latest recruiting news and suitors so far this winter.
"I've been in contact with the coaches from Indiana, Yale, North Dakota, South Dakota, Illinois, Western Michigan, Eastern Michigan plus Ball State. I've made Junior Day visits so far to both NIU and also St. Thomas. The feedback from the college coaches has been good. They just want to get to know me better and they have also invited me to make a visit this spring and to also camp them this summer."
Does Guzman have any additional college visits planned for this upcoming spring?
"I'm looking at making visits to see Wyoming, Western Michigan, Eastern Michigan, South Dakota and maybe a few others."
Guzman was asked to reflect on his 2022 junior season along with filling us in what part of his game needs to improve this off season.
"Last season thought that my pass pro was good. I have pretty long arms and reach and I was able to really use that to my advantage last season. I also was abler to get to the second level blocks more consistently. I'm definitely working on my overall mobility along with staying low and having better overall leverage. I'm always working hard and trying to get everything in my game better."
Does Guzman have a dream school?
"I really like both Iowa and also Notre Dame. They are just great schools and football programs that also develop some great offensive linemen every year."
