Banks made his verbal commitment on Monday in a ceremony at Evanston High School surrounded by his family and friends. Banks talked about why he eventually decided on the Redhawks.
"Miami just has a lot to offer. The academics at Miami are great and that was definitely one of the big selling points. Miami also has a great academic support system for athletes as well. I also felt that I've been able to build up some great relationships with the people at Miami."
Banks is also excited about the progress of the football program at Miami and feels that the Redhawks are building up some program wide positive momentum.
"The football program has a lot of momentum now and with this recruiting class I'm hoping we can keep that going. The coaches including head coach Chuck Martin have all been working really hard to bring the program back where it belongs. I want to be a part of that at Miami and it's going to be a great comeback."
Banks is thrilled to have his recruiting process completed.
"I'm just really happy and glad it's all done. Several schools wanted me to camp this summer and that can be pretty stressful. It's a pretty hard grind and now it's all about focusing on our senior season. Making my decision now has a lot to do with our season because we don't want any distractions. Last year as a junior we didn't have a great season. We had to deal with a lot and just didn't have a good season. We plan to turn that around and become CSL champions."
Travion Banks is verbally committed to Miami of Ohio.
