Bargy commits to Minnesota

Evaluation: Momence 2019 DE Jason Bargy

Momence (Ill.) three star ranked junior defensive end recruit Jason Bargy (6-foot-5, 240 pounds) just minutes ago decided to give the University of Minnesota and head coach PJ Fleck his verbal commitment. Bargy discusses his decision here.

"Row The Boat," Bargy said when contacted about his verbal commitment to Minnesota. "Minnesota is home. Everything about that university is great and I'm very happy and excited about my decision."

Bargy, who played running back, linebacker and defensive end at Class 1A (339 school enrollment) Momence has been leaning towards Minnesota since his last on campus visit.

"The culture at Minnesota is a perfect fit for me. The last visit I made to Minnesota I remember that I mumbled under my breath on the way back home saying "Man, I've got to go back there sometime" and nobody heard me. Minnesota is just a perfect fit for me. Row The Boat."

So did Bargy consider other schools before announcing his decision?

"Iowa State was another school I looked harder into besides Minnesota."

So with Bargy continuing to draw strong recruiting attention this spring, why make his decision now?

"My gut just told me that it was time to make a decision. My instincts just told me that now was the right time."

Bargy is now the Gophers ninth known overall verbal commitment to the Minnesota Class of 2019. Bargy joins two fellow Land of Lincoln pledges in St. Charles North DB Tyler Nubin and Washington offensive tackle JJ Guedet.
