ATH Clark is on board

Jacksonville (Ill.) senior safety recruit Devante Clark (6-foot-1, 195 pounds) took an official visit then gave Western Illinois his verbal commitment. Clark talks about his decision here.
"I made an official visit to Western Illinois last weekend," Clark said. "They came back a few days after my visit and offered me a scholarship. I talked it over with my Mom and I called back the WIU coaches and gave them my verbal commitment."

Clark talked about why he pledged to the WIU Leathernecks.
"I had a great official visit. I was just impressed with everything that WIU had to offer. I had a great vibe with the players, the coaches and the other recruits. I also really liked the campus and I felt very comfortable there. The coaches remind me of my coaches at Jacksonville. WIU was just a great fit and once they offered me I couldn't say no."
Clark was recruited by the Leathernecks as a tweener recruit for now.
"The coaches at WIU feel that they will have a better idea of an eventual position for me about a year from now. I'm looked at as a safety but the coaches feel that I could grow into an outside linebacker for them. I'm already 195 pounds and they feel I could add more weight and size down the road. I'm totally open when it comes to a position. I just want to help the team in anyway I can."
Clark is thrilled to have his recruiting process complete.
"I'm very happy it's over. It's been pretty stressful and I'm just really happy and excited about Western Illinois."
Devante Clark is verbally committed to Western Illinois University.
