ATH Mitchell has an early offer
Olympia Fields (Ill.) Rich Central junior athlete prospect Jyran Mitchell (6-foot-0, 180 pounds) has an early offer from Illinois State along with adding more and more recruiting looks daily. get to know this latest name to watch in the Class of 2018 here.
"Illinois State offered me a few weeks ago at a Junior Day," Mitchell said. "I was a little surprised that Illinois State offered me. We had been in contact on and off so I wasn't sure where I stood with them."
Mitchell came away with his first offer from Illinois State and came away impressed with the Redbirds.
"I really loved the campus at Illinois State on my visit. I have family that lives in Peoria so I have family that lives pretty close to Illinois State. I also liked the stadium at ISU and they also have renovated a lot of things on the campus and in the football program. Illinois State offered me as more of an athlete. They like me as a defensive back but they also said that they could see me play at a few different spots if they needed me to play for them."
Mitchell, who is a very strong student in the class room (3.9 GPA) has also been in touch with several schools this winter.
"Besides Illinois State I've also been in touch with Central Michigan, Dartmouth, Princeton, South Dakota, North Dakota and Columbia. I visited Central Michigan back in January and that was a very good visit. I don't have any visits planned for now. I'm running track now along with playing 7on7 for HeroH so I've been staying busy."
Mitchell talked about what he feels are his strengths on the field and more.
"I try to be a strong leader for my team. I try to push myself and my teammates to be better and I try to encourage my teammates as much as I can. I'm also pretty athletic and I also have a high football IQ. I'm working hard on my overall quarterback mechanics this winter. I want to become perfect in all aspects of my quarterbacking skills."
Jyran Mitchell has a scholarship offer from Illinois State.
