Brown hops onboard

Chicago (Ill.) Phillips junior safety prospect Jamal Brown (6-foot-1, 185 pounds) made a visit to Western Michigan today and left campus as the latest member of the Class of 2015 for the Broncos.

"I'm committed to Western Michigan," Brown said. "I visited today and they offered me on the visit. Later on I knew that I found a great place and wanted to be a part of the program so I committed."

Brown talked about why he pledged to the WMU Broncos.

"I chose WMU because Coach Fleck is the first college coach to believe in me. I believe that Coach Fleck has a vision to make WMU a winner. I feel that it can happen really quickly. After watching the practice today I was just really intrigued to play for the Broncos. The practice was intense and uptempo and was everything I'm looking for in a team and a coaching staff. I also have a great rapport with the coaches at WMU and I trust them. Coach Ed (Pinkham) the defensive coordinator has been at this a long time and he will get me to be a better player. I just loved everything about WMU and I'm just excited to make my decision today."

Brown also talked about why he decided to end his recruiting process.

"I just felt that I wanted to be at WMU right away. I felt that way the minute I stepped on the campus. I want to be a part of the legacy that Coach Fleck is trying to build at WMU. Overall WMU is a great fit for me and I'm going to help get WMU from worst to first."

Brown is excited to focus now just on his senior season and not his recruiting process.

"I'm just really pumped up. My coaches are also really excited for me too. They have been a huge part of my success and I couldn't have done any of this without the help and support of my coaches at Phillips."

Jamal Brown is verbally committed to Western Michigan.
