Brummett break down his NIU visit

Decatur (Ill.) MacArthur senior two star ranked athlete recruit Amir Brummett (6-foot-3, 185 pounds) made his official visit this past weekend to Northern Illinois University. Brummett, who has been committed to the NIU Huskies since May recaps his impressions from NIU here.

"It was great to be back at NIU," Brummett said. "It was a great visit and I just enjoyed getting to know all the recruits better. We all follow each other on social media and talk talk online but it was good to just hang out with everyone over the weekend."

Brummett is still very much on board with NIU and was able to come away from his weekend official visit feeling good about his decision.

"NIU has always just shown me a lot of love and that hasn't changed at all. I was just always impressed with the coaches and getting to see that bond between the coaches and the players at NIU is impressive. Over the weekend the players just really made us all feel like a part of the team along with the coaches and that bond is really tight."

Brummett had heard from a handful of schools this fall but the large majority of schools backed off once he gave NIU his verbal commitment.

"I get a few text and a few coaches who just check in but for the most part they all backed off after I committed. My Mom went with my on the official visit and she also loves it at NIU. They really made us feel welcomed and I'm still 100 percent committed to NIU."

Brummett will now focus on his senior season on the hardwood.

"I'm in the middle of basketball season now and that's my main focus along with keeping my grades up. We have a pretty strong team this season and we play in the Collinsville holiday tournament."

Amir Brummett is verbally committed to Northern Illinois University.
