Calcagno recaps Iowa State stop

Naperville (Ill.) North senior wide receiver recruit Nick Calcagno (6-foot-3, 195 pounds) made an unofficial game day visit to Iowa State on Saturday. Calcagno fills us in on his Ames, Iowa stop and more in this recruiting update.

"I went to the Iowa State game on Saturday against Oklahoma State," Calcagno said. "I was at Iowa State last spring but this was my first game day visit."

Calcagno, who has been drawing recruiting interest at a few different positions (wide receiver/tight end/linebacker) recapped his game day impressions from Iowa State.

"It was an awesome visit. It's pretty amazing to see how much the football program at Iowa State has changed for the better in such a short amount of time. They lost to Oklahoma State 49-42 but it was a great game and an amazing game day atmosphere. The football team gets great fan support and overall it was just a really impressive visit."

So where does Calcagno stand with the Cyclones these days?

"I was able to talk to a few of the Iowa State coaches including my recruiting coach Alex Golesh. Coach Golesh told me that I'm still a tweener type for them. The Iowa State coaches said they are going to re-evaluate my senior video as a staff this week. They will let me know whether they will offer me a scholarship or not."

Calcagno has also remained in touch with a handful of schools since his senior season ended.

"Besides Iowa State I've been in touch with Western Michigan, NIU, Northern Iowa and also Purdue. I visited Iowa last week and Western Michigan also wants me to come out to visit them. ."

So what's next for Calcagno?

"I'm just staying in touch with schools. No one has mentioned anything yet about a Preferred Walk On offers. Most of the colleges I'me talking to are still trying to see if I will be a scholarship offer player for them or not."

Nick Calcagno has offers from NIU, SEMO, Indiana State and SIU.
