DB Gandy commits to SDSU
DeKalb (Ill) (5-1) senior defensive back recruit Jordan Gandy (6-foot-2, 190 pounds) decided to give South Dakota State a verbal commitment and accept a preferred walk-on spot with the Jackrabbits. Gandy fills us in on his college decision here.
"South Dakota State offered me a preferred walk-on spot and I decided to accept it," Gandy said. "I camped this summer at SDSU and they have been recruiting me since the spring. SDSU had one scholarship available at defensive back so they filled up at my position but they still wanted me to be a part of the program. I'm excited to go earn my spot next year at South Dakota State."
Gandy filled us in on why he decided to commit to the South Dakota State Jackrabbits.
"I just really like the football program at South Dakota State and it's one of the best FCS programs in the nation. I'll get to compete for a national championship every year in the Missouri Valley conference and my dream has always been to play at the highest level possible. When I camped at SDSU this summer we spent the day and just saw the campus, the entire town and local area and everything was just really nice. I've been really excited about SDSU since they started recruiting me and I'm excited about my decision."
Gandy also filled us in on his other college options.
"Western Michigan is another school that has been recruiting me for a while and they also have mentioned to me about a preferred walk on spot. I was also staying in touch with both North Dakota and SIU. I'm very excited about my decision and I'm not looking at any other schools."
Gandy is also happy and relived to have his recruiting decision behind him.
"It's a big relief and it definitely was beginning to bring more and more pressure to make a decision. I can just focus on my team and school the rest of the year and not worry about my recruiting."
Jordan Gandy is verbally committed to South Dakota State.
