DB Warren pledges to NIU

Chicago (Ill.) Phillips junior cornerback recruit Dexter Warren (6-foot-1, 165 pounds) made a weekend visit to Northern Illinois University for the Huskies spring game and Warren gave NIU his verbal commitment.

"NIU just feels like the right place for me," according to Warren. "I just like everything they have to offer and I was ready so I committed."

Warren, who was beginning to add offers and gain real recruiting traction this spring explained why he decided to end his recruiting process and pledge to the NIU Huskies.

"I just like everything that NIU has to offer. They have a great football team and they win games. NIU is pretty close to home so my friends and family can come see me play in college. I also just like how close the players and the coaches are at NIU. Everyone is on the same page at NIU."

Warren who was offered as a cornerback/saftey by the Huskies is excited to play in the NIU defense.

"I like the NIU defense a lot. It's a good fit for me and they play real fast and aggressive style just like we do at Phillips."

Warren made a few other visits this spring but none of those schools compared to NIU.

"I visited some other schools but they didn't feel the same way as NIU did to me."

Dexter Warren is verbally committed to Northern Illinois University.
