DE Hawthorne is on fire

Chicago (Ill.) DeLaSalle junior defensive end recruit Steven Hawthorne (6-foot-4, 225 pounds) has added a handful of offers this week and fully expect Hawthorne's recruiting stock to soar sooner rather than later. Hawthorne checks in and talk recruiting and more here.

"I have offers now from Toledo, NIU and Syracuse," Hawthorne said. "Syracuse and NIU offered me over the last few. Toledo offered when they made an in school visit not too long ago."

Hawthorne is still learning more about the schools who have already offered him but is familiar with in-state NIU.

"I know that NIU is closer to home. I also know a few guys already on the team at NIU. I was also able to see NIU in person for a game when they played Western Michigan."

Hawthorne has also been in touch with a few new schools this week.

"Besides the schools who have already offered me I've also been in touch with Michigan State and Wyoming. Most of the schools just want to stay in touch and that they want to let me know that they are recruiting me."

So what is Hawthorne up to this off season?

"I'm in the middle of basketball season right now. I'm also working on just improving my overall game. I want to get bigger and stronger this off season. I have worked out with some college players at my position and I have a lot of work to do to get to that level. I just want to raise my overall game and become a difference maker."

Does Hawthorne have a dream school?

"Not really. I just want to get a chance to play in college at the highest level."

Steven Hawthorne has scholarship offers from Toledo, NIU and Syracuse.
