DT Dunn pledges to Toledo

LaGrange Park (Ill.) Nazareth Academy two star ranked junior defensive tackle recruit Devonte Dunn (6-foot-1, 261 pounds) drove out to Toledo with his family on Saturday and Dunn gave the Toledo Rocket coaches his verbal commitment .

"I wanted to give the Toledo coaches and head coach (Jason) Candle my verbal commitment in person," Dunn said. "I didn't want to do it on the phone or on social media. I wanted to look the coaches in the eye, shake their hands and let them know that I'm very committed to Toledo."

Dunn filled us in on why he decided to end his recruiting process and pledge to Toledo.

"I just love the school and the coaches at Toledo. The coaches at Toledo really care about the players on the off the field. I like how the coaches make sure that everyone is focused on school and education along with football. I just developed a great bond at Toledo from very early on and I'm just excited to be a part of the program. They recruited me as a defensive end."

Dunn also pointed towards an overall family feeling at Toledo that was hard to pass up.

"Anyone who knows me knows that my family is everything to me. I just felt at home with Toledo and they have just a great family feel and vibe. I really gave my decision a lot of thought. I talked it over multiple times with my family along with my coaches and some of my teachers. I took some time to think it all over and I just couldn't pass on Toledo."

Dunn also planned to make an early college decision from early on in his recruiting process.

"My plan all along was to make an early decision. I want to be able to put 100 percent of my focus on my team and my senior year without recruiting being a distraction. I want to just enjoy my senior year of high school and I couldn't be happier about my decision. My family is also 100 percent behind my decision."

Devonte Dunn is verbally committed to Toledo.
