Dudek to Illinois

Naperville (Ill.) Neuqua Valley three star ranked slotback prospect Mike Dudek (5-foot-11, 175 pounds) gave Illinois bis verbal commitment today. Dudek talks about his decision here in this recruiting update.
"I committed to Illinois," Dudek said. "I pretty much knew a week or so ago that I was ready to end it and pledge to the Illini. I waited a bit longer and in the end I'm ready to commit to Ilinois."

Dudek talked about why he decided to pledge to the Fighting Illini.
"Illinois just seems like the right place for me. Illinois just feels right in so many ways it was a pretty easy decision for me. I made several other visits but Illinois just always stood out to me then I started to compare other schools to Illinois. I knew that Illinois was the school for me so why wait on my decision. I'm really excited and so is my family."
Dudek came away impressed with the Illini on a handful of unofficial visits, yet came to his final college choice right after his spring break.
"The day after I came home from spring break was when I really knew I was ready to commit to Illinois. I had my entire break to think about it all and I was ready to make my decision. I'm ready to go out and now help Illinois bring in a great recruiting class. I want to help Illinois get a ton of great prospects especially those here in Illinois."
Dudek also was excited about what the Illini offer on and off the field.
"I know I'm getting a great education at Illinois. On the field the coaches have said I'll have a chance to come in and compete early for playing time. I really like my position coach Mike Bellamy and the rest of the coaches at Illinois. Other schools like Wisconsin, Iowa State and Vanderbilt had interest but they also wanted me to camp this summer. Illinois believed in me and offered early and that loyalty was also important."
Dudek becomes the second known in-state commitment for Illinois, joining Lincoln-Way East junior OC Nick Allegretti.
