Edwards has upcoming visit plans

Granite City (Ill.) junior quarterback recruit Freddy Edwards (5-foot-11, 180 pounds) is off and running this season and Edwards has also continued to draw more recruiting interest and attention so far this fall. Edwards checks in and recaps his season, his latest recruiting news and more here.

"We are 3-3 on the season so far," Edwards said. "It's been an up and down season for us. We are playing as an independent this year so we are playing a lot of new teams. We have work to do the rest of the regular season and the plan is to win out our remaining games and get into the playoffs on a roll."

Edwards also took a few minutes to recap his latest recruiting news.

"I've been in contact with the coaches from Ohio State and I'm planning to go visit Ohio State for a game soon. The Ohio State coaches texted me right when the recruiting period opened up and we've stayed in touch since on a regular basis. I'm also planning to visit Notre Dame on November 10th when they host Florida State. I'm also looking to get out to Kentucky for a game this fall."

Edwards also recapped more colleges who have shown his recruiting attention.

"Besides Ohio State, Notre Dame and Kentucky I've also been in contact with Purdue, Michigan State, Iowa State and Iowa. Those schools follow me on Twitter and they have also sent a lot of mail."

Edwards also filled us in on how his game has developed this fall compared to a season ago.

"I've been really focused on sharing the football and trying to spread the wealth and get my teammates much more involved this season. I also feel I'm getting much bette rat reading defenses and that I'm able to pick up defenses much quicker. The game has definitely slowed down a bit for me plus I just feel a bit more mature now compared to last season."

Edwards pointed towards his injury shortened season in 2017 as a big key in his overall development this fall.

"As strange as it sounds last year's injury was a blessing in disguise. It allowed me time to really study the game and get a better overall understanding of my position. It allowed me the time to look harder at myself and really look at what I needed to improve. I definitely worked harder after the injury and missing that time on the field made me appreciate the game so much more."

Freddy Edwards has a scholarship offer from Iowa State.
