Gettis draws two more offers

Frankfort (Ill.) Lincoln-Way East two star ranked defensive line prospect Adam Gettis (6-foot-2, 240 pounds) wasn't expecting to get his latest offer from the Big Ten conference on Monday night when he was ordering a sandwich at the local Subway. Gettis talks about landing his latest two scholarship offers and much more in this recruiting update.
"I received two new offers over the past week or so," Gettis said. "Last Tuesday I landed an offer from Bowling Green State. Om Monday night, I was at Subway ordering a sandwich and I got a call on my cell from Lester Erb, who's my recruiting coach at Iowa. We had a good talk and he told me that the Iowa Hawkeyes wanted to offer me a scholarship."

Gettis talked about his latest offers from the Falcons and the Hawkeyes.
"The offer from Bowling Green really came out of nowhere to be honest. The Bowling Green State coaches just called me for the first time last Tuesday and offered me a scholarship. I know that Bowling Green plays in the MAC and that they are located in Ohio. Bowling Green is recruiting me as a defensive end prospect, and most schools are looking at me for that position. I'll definitely do some research on the Falcons."
Gettis admits that landing his latest offer from the Iowa Hawkeyes was a slight surprise.
"I've been staying in touch with Coach Erb for awhile now, so I knew that Iowa was still somewhat interested in me this fall. The Iowa coaches talked about me being patient, so I guess that patience has paid off. The Iowa coaches really haven't talked about a specific position for me at Iowa, but I'm guessing they are interested in me at defensive end. It's exciting to get an offer from the Hawkeyes and it's a surprise because I just thought it would go down to the wire with them before they offered."
Gettis, who is a talented three sport athlete at Lincoln-Way East, is also familiar with the Iowa Hawkeyes.
"I've been to Iowa City and the University of Iowa for a few events and a few games already. Iowa has just a great group of coaches, and I also really like the campus and the facilities. It's a Big ten offer and that's always exciting. Iowa also offers a solid education. I've set an official visit to Iowa on December 1st. It's fair to say that I'm leaning to Iowa right now, but I want to stay focus on the rest of my senior year and look again at my options at the end of the year before I decide."
Gettis is also excited about the Griffins huge Class 8A semifinal game at home this Saturday against Chicago Mount Carmel in Frankfort.
"It's a really exciting time of the year. We get to play Mount Carmel at our place this Saturday night, and it will be just a huge game. It's private versus public and that is always exciting. We've been at this stage before and so has Mount Carmel, so we both should be ready to play our best game on Saturday. Mount Carmel has a great program and they have won a ton of state titles.I can't wait until Saturday night."
