Harris is looking at his options

DeKalb (Ill.) senior offensive guard recruit Spencer Harris (6-foot-4, 290 pounds) has been looking harder at his college options these days. Harris, who's DeKalb Barbs (4-1) are off to a good start this season check in and breaks down his recruiting process and more here.

"We lost last week and we are back at it this week and getting ready for Morris," Harris said. "Outside of last week's loss it's been a good season so far for us and my season year is really flying by so far."

Harris filled us in on his latest recruiting news.

"I've been in regular contact with Minnesota State, Holy Cross, Georgetown, Yale and also Missouri Western. Illinois and Notre Dame have also shown some interest. I visited Notre Dame a few weeks ago for the game against Vanderbilt and it was an amazing visit. Notre Dame has been talking to me about becoming a Preferred Walk-On for them. Illinois has also invited me out to a game and they haven't mentioned anything yet about being either a scholarship player or a preferred walk-on."

So what will it take for a school to land Spencer Harris?

"At the end of the day I'm looking for a school that will set me up for the rest of my life. I'm looking for a school that offers great academics along with a school where I'll get a chance to earn early playing time. I'm sure I'll end up making a few official visits before I make a college choice and that's the plan for now."

So how has his game changed this season for Harris compared to last year?

"I'm playing center this year and I've been working at center since the summer. My coaches and I talked about making the move to center and it's been good for the team as well as for myself personally. Several schools have wanted to see me play center and they all feel I'll be an interior offensive linemen at the college level."
