LB Folliard makes an impression
McHenry (Ill.) junior inside linebacker prospect Colton Folliard (6-foot-1, 230 pounds) has been able to add more size and strength this off season and showed his new and improved game to rave reviews over the past weekend.
"I went to The Opening camp and it was a great time," Folliard said. "I've worked hard at adding more good size and weight and I wound up being in the Top 5 for my position at The Opening camp."
Folliard, who is the cousin of current NIU senior linebacker Sean Folliard felt good about his overall camp performance on Saturday.
"The Opening camp had a lot of good players and a some great competition. The camp just had a lot of energy and it was a good experience. The best part of the camp was to be able to just go out and compete with and against some highly ranked kids. It was just top level competition and gave me a good ideas of how I match-up against those players."
Folliard also filled us in on his latest recruiting news.
"Army has been very interested. I visited West Point not too long ago and it was an amazing experience. I loved it at West Point and they want me to stay in touch. They said that they really like my game but that they just aren't ready to offer me just yet. NIU has also been interested. I camped at NIU last summer for a one day camp and they have remained in touch since that camp. I've also heard from Western Michigan, Purdue, Toledo and some smaller schools."
Folliard also has some of his summer one day camp plans set.
"I'll be at Toledo on June 3rd for a one day camp. I'm also camping with Illinois on June 4th at Lincoln-Way West and the NIU satellite camp at Gately Stadium on June 5th. I'm also planning to camp at Western Michigan on June 11th and at Purdue on June 12th."
