LB Njongmeta draws more offers
Lincolnwshire (Ill.) Stevenson junior inside linebacker recruit Maema Njongmeta (6-foot-1, 210 pounds) has been adding scholarship offers at a steady pace so far this winter. Njongmeta checks in and discusses his latest offers and more in this recruiting update.
"My coaches at school have always said that getting that first offer is always the hardest," Njongmeta said. "Once I added my first offer from West Point it seems like more and more offers have come my way."
Njongmeta, who is a high level academics student (34 ACT) recapped his latest offers and recruiting news.
"I have offers now from Army, Columbia, Princeton, Cornell, Dartmouth and UPenn. I've also been in touch with the coaches from Northwestern plus NIU, Miami of Ohio and Western Michigan. I went to a game last season at Northwestern and I've been invited to Junior Day events at Western Michigan, NIU and Miami of Ohio. NIU said they have a specific position in mind for me and Miami of Ohio said they want to come into school and see me soon."
Njongmeta, who started playing organized football his freshman year at Stevenson discusses his overall game and his progression in a relatively new sport for him.
"I started playing football in my freshman year and it was a birth by fire back then. I had to literally learn everything about football in a short amount of time. I needed to learn and develop instincts that seemed to come easier to kids who had been playing football for a long time. Also back then my body wasn't football ready so it's been a lot of work over the past few years. In a lot of ways it's been a blessing for me starting the game so late. I was basically forced to learn proper tackling technique and taking good angles later than most kids so it's helped my overall game."
Does Njongmeta have a dream school?
"Northwestern is my dream school. They just offer such a great combination of strong academics and football. Plus Northwestern is close to home and I'm very close to my family and Northwestern is so close to home."
Maema Njongmeta has scholarship offers from Army, Columbia, Princeton, Cornell, Dartmouth and Penn.
