Mihalic recaps his WMU pledge
Niles (IL) North senior kicker/punter recruit Nick Mihalic (5-foot-11, 170 pounds) made an on campus visit on Saturday to Western Michigan, landed an offer from the Broncos and came away verbally committed to Western Michigan. Mihalic talks about his college decision here.
"I decided to commit to Western Michigan while I was at the game on Saturday," Mihalic said. "Western Michigan just felt right and felt like the best place for me so I committed."
Mihalic discussed why he decided to end his recruiting process on Saturday night and pledge to Western Michigan.
"I went up to Western Michigan on Saturday for the game. I really wanted to get out to Western Michigan early because they had been showing me a lot of interest. I was able to get up to Western Michigan early so my parents and I went and looked around before the game. They have a really nice campus and academically they already have it covered well. When we got to the game all of the coaches at Western Michigan made us feel very welcomed. The Western Michigan coaches said they wanted me to stay around after the game. I was able to have some dinner after the game and I was with all of the kids who already committed to WMU. During dinner I just realized that WMU was the place for me. It just felt right to me so I committed on the spot before we left campus. Western Michigan recruited me and offered me a full scholarship as a punter. I'm also going to compete for the kickoff job as well."
Mihalic had other options and was planning to visit other schools before he decided to end his recruiting on Saturday night.
"I looked hard at Air Force along with Minnesota and Penn State. Both Minnesota and Penn State had been staying in touch but hadn't offered me yet. I'm just really happy and excited about Western Michigan and I'm totally committed."
Mihalic is excited to also have his recruiting process completed.
"I'm so happy and glad to have my recruiting done and completed. It was so stressful at times. My parent also already love Western Michigan and I'm ready to start my college career next summer at Western Michigan."
Nick Mihalic is verbally committed to Western Michigan.
