Nagel flips to Northwestern

Lemont (Ill.) three star ranked senior wide receiver recruit Flynn Nagel (5-foot-11, 186 pounds) just flipped his college choice from Duke to Northwestern after the Wildcats offered Nagel on Monday. Nagel talks about his decision here.
"I decommitted from Duke and gave Northwestern my commitment," Nagel said. "It all happened very fast and I basically had one day to make my decision. Northwestern has been an offer that I was always hoping for and it's the best decision for myself and my family."

Nagel talked about his wild 24 hours which led to his backing out of his Duke pledge and his commitment to Northwestern.
"I have always been interested in Northwestern and they called me yesterday and offered me. They had a kid back out (Michigan receiver Grant Perry who pledged to Michigan) so I know the full circumstances behind the offer. I'm just happy I was the next call. Northwestern and my family have a good history (Nagel's older brothers Brett and Aaron both played and graduated from Northwestern) and it's just a great school. I sat down and talked it over with my family and it's just the best possible scenario. I just can't pass up a chance to play at Northwestern. I'll get a top notch education, play close to home in this amazing city and it's everything I could ask for and more."
Nagel admitted that telling Duke and head coach David Cutcliffe his decision wasn't easy.
"Calling up Coach Cut wasn't an easy call to make. We had a great talk and he is just a first class guy. He said he hated my decision but that he also understood. This will be the best decision for myself and my family. He wished me the best of luck and I can't say enough about just how great of a man Coach Cutcliffe has been to me and my family. Both Duke and Northwestern have so much to offer. The biggest difference maker for me is the distance. Playing at Northwestern will make it much easier on my family and that's very important to me."
Nagel is thrilled to sign his Letter of Intent to Northwestern tomorrow morning.
"It's been a crazy 24 hours for us. I'm just very blessed that things worked out this way. I truly believe that things happen for a reason."
Nagel is now the 20th known verbal commitment for Northwestern in the Class of 2015 and is also the fourth known in-state commitment for the Wildcats.
