Springfield (IL) Sacred Heart Griffin junior offensive tackle prospect Nick Broeker (6-foot-5, 250 pounds) was able to add his first scholarship recently by in-state Southern Illinois University. Broeker discusses adding his first offer from the SIU Salukis and much more in this recruiting update.
"I added my first offer from SIU," Broeker said. "I've also been hearing from more and more schools lately and my recruiting overall has been going really well."
Broeker talked about his early impressions of SIU.
"I know that they play in a top FCS level conference in the Missouri Valley. SIU also has two of our SHG players (Tremayne Lee and Sam Bonansinga) already and that they are a program on the rise . They also offer a great campus and education."
Broeker also has been able to draw increased recruiting looks this early winter.
"I visited Notre Dame and I've also been hearing from Illinois, Oklahoma State, Louisville, Minnesota, Iowa, Northwestern, Wyoming and several Mid American conference schools. Wyoming and SIU made recent in school visits. I've also been talking to Coach (Luke) Butkus at Illinois weekly. Minnesota has been in contact and Notre Dame and NIU are planning to be in schools sometime soon. I've also gotten several Junior Day invites but I'm also playing basketball so it's going to be hard for me to get out to really any of those events."
Broeker is now focused on his basketball season and also talked about what he wants to improve this off season.
"I'm working on improving my overall strength and athleticism and speed. The goal is to get bigger, stronger and faster this off season."
Nick Broeker has a scholarship offer from Southern Illinois University.
