OL/DL Wesley is on the rise

Chicago (Ill.) Curie junior offensive tackle recruit Kevo Wesley (6-foot-5, 260 pounds) has only played one season of high school football but has already begun to draw lots of recruiting attention so far this winter. Get to know Kevo Wesley better here.

"I have an offer from Southern Miss," Wesley said. "I've also been drawing more recruiting attention from several different schools and things have been going well."

Wesley, who played on both the offensive and defensive line for Curie and head coach Arthur Ray Jr. in 2018 recapped which schools have started to show interest.

"Besides Southern Miss I've been in touch with the coaches from Illinois along with a lot of other schools in the Big Ten. I've also been getting attention from coaches in the Big 12, the SEC along with some of the coaches from the ACC. I was able to make college game visits this past fall to Illinois, Northwestern and Michigan State and those visits all went well. I had a good time on those visit and I got to know the coaches at those schools better."

Wesley also looked back at his 2018 season and discussed his transition from playing basketball to football this past fall.

"It was a big transition at first and the overall speed of the game was the hardest thing to get used to for me. Once we got to around Week 5-6 the game definitely started to slow down and it started to come easier to me. I'm just working hard on getting back in the weight room and I just want to keep learning and knowing the game better this off season. I also plan to throw shot and discus for our track team this winter."

Does Wesley prefer to play offensive line or defensive line at the college level?

"I'm not sure. Since last year was my first year playing football I'm just trying to play hard and learn each position better. Some college coaches have talked about offense and others talk about defense."

Does Wesley have a dream school?

"I really don't have one. My dream is to just find a school that will make me a better player and a better person and a school where I will fit in at the best. In hoops I always liked watching Duke so I guess that would of been one of my favorite schools."

Kevo Wesley has a scholarship offer from Southern Miss.
