OL Marozas lands Minny offer
Chicago (Ill.) Brother Rice junior offensive linemen recruit Nick Marozas (6-foot-5, 255 pounds) was able to add his first scholarship offer on Tuesday as Minnesota extended Marozas a verbal scholarship offer.
"Getting my first offer from Minnesota feels great," Marozas said. "It was a bit of a surprise. I had talked to one of the coaches on Monday morning and then later in the day they offered me a scholarship."
Marozas talked about his impressions of the University of Minnesota Gophers.
"I visited Minnesota last month for the Homecoming game against Purdue. I had a chance to talk to the coaches at Minnesota on that visit and that went well. I liked the campus, the facilities and the stadium. Minnesota is just a great program and school and it's pretty exciting to get my first offer from a great Big Ten program."
Marozas has also been in touch with several colleges this late fall.
"Besides Minnesota I've been in touch with Syracuse, Illinois, Indiana, Northern Illinois and Navy. I've been getting a mix of regular mail and Twitter messages. The schools all want me to stay in touch and they all are starting to invite me to basketball games later this winter."
Does Marozas have any upcoming unofficial visit planned?
"I'm planning to head out to Syracuse on January 14th. They have been very interested in me and I'm also interested to see what they have to offer."
Marozas also talked about what he feels are his strengths on the field and more.
"I'm a pretty athletic linemen and I have pretty good quickness for my size. I have a pretty good handle on my assignments and I pride myself on being a smart player and I can pick up the blitz and make adjustments quickly. I'm working hard to improve my overall strength along with improving my overall technique."
Does Marozas have a dream school?
"As a kid I rooted for Wisconsin. I used to go to the Badgers basketball camp and Frank Kaminsky was one of my coaches for a few years."
