OL Wentworth added his first offer
Minooka (Ill.) senior offensive guard recruit Derek Wentworth (6-foot-3, 275 pounds) was able to add his first FCS scholarship offer recently from Indiana State. Wentworth checks in and recaps his latest recruiting news, summer camp plans and more in this recruiting update.
"Indiana State offered me right before we wrapped up the school year," Wentworth said. "The Indiana State coaches came into school and watched a workout. They just called me and offered and I was honestly lost for words when they offered me. It was a great feeling and really excited."
Wentworth discussed his thoughts on adding an Indiana State offer.
"The offer just sort of came out of nowhere to be honest because I hadn't really heard much from Indiana State for awhile. I know that Indiana State has had some success lately in the Missouri Valley Conference. I also know that they have a new coaching staff and I'll get out to visit them sometime this summer."
Wentworth also recapped his latest recruiting news and summer camp plans.
"I've been in touch with the coaches from Wyoming, Illinois State, SIU, Drake, Valparaiso, South Dakota State, North Dakota and a few smaller level schools. All of those schools want to see me at camps this summer. I'm planning to camp at the North Central College and Elmhurst College satellite camps. I'm also set to go to the Lake Forest College satellite camp and I might also add a few more camps in July."
Wentworth is also excited about the Indians for the upcoming season.
"We have new coaches this year and we are doing well. I was cared at first to be honest because no one really knew Coach (Terry) McCombs or some of his coaches. The coaches are great and they really have us headed in the right direction. I know a lot of people will write us off this year and that's fine. I just know that we are going to be good this season and I'm really excited."
