QB Oles has visit set

Palatine (Ill.) senior quarterback Zach Oles (5-foot-11, 200 pounds) wrapped up his senior season for the Pirates and head coach Rick Splitt a bit earlier than he wanted this past season. Oles recaps his senior season, his latest football recruiting and much more here.

"It was a bummer to end the season early with my injury," Oles said. "I just tried to help my team and DJ (backup QB DJ Angelaccio) as much as I could and DJ did a great job. It was fun to watch this team keep winning. We didn't achieve our goal of winning a state title but overall it was a very good season. ."

Oles has been looking harder at his recruiting and college options these days..

"I have offers from Valpo, Butler, Dayton along with Jacksonville. I've also been in touch with a few of the bigger schools like Illinois and North Dakota State. I'm just waiting to see what happens with a few of those bigger schools for now but I'm starting to look harder at everything. I'm also starting to set up some official visits."

Oles so far has one official visit set this fall.

"I'm all set to make an official visit to Butler on January 13th. Butler has been recruiting me for a while now and I'm excited to see what they have to offer. I'm also hoping to set at least one or two other visits."

Oles was also honored on Sunday at the Chicago Bears game against the San Francisco 49ers as one of the weekly Chicaog Bears High School Player of the Week honorees.

"It was a great experience and a lot of fun getting to be on the field before the game at Soldier Field. I was able to bring one person down on the field so my Dad came down with me. I also had a lot of family and friends at the game and we tailgated before the game. It was a fun day and quite an honor."

Zach Oles has scholarship offers from Butler, Dayton, Valparaiso and Jacksonville.
