QB Thorne recaps Army combine

Naperville (Ill.) Central junior quarterback recruit Payton Thorne (6-foot-2, 185 pounds) took part in the recently held US Army Bowl combine in San Antonio, Texas. Thorne recaps his impressions from the Army Bowl combine and more in this update.

"The Army combine was fun," Thorne said. "It was a really long day but it was also a ton of fun. It was just also nice to get out of the weather in Chicagoland and we treated it like a mini vacation for my family."

So how did Thorne perform at the Army combine?

"I felt that the Army combine was the best that I've performed so far. I tested pretty well and I was happy on how I threw the football. The overall talent level at the Army combine was really high and it was a good experience to go out and compete and against kids from all over the country."

Thorne, who posted nearly 3,000 yards of total offense and 33 touchdowns in 2017 is also hoping to get out to visit a handful of schools soon.

"I'm going to get out to visit Cincinnati soon for sure. I'm sure I'll also head back to Western Michigan again for another visit and I'm sure I'll get out to visit a few other schools."

So what has Thorne been working on this off season?

"I've been just lifting, working out and throwing in the mornings. I'm also starting to get ready for baseball season. I've been really working hard on getting my release quicker and it's getting there. I'm also working hard on adding more weight and keeping my speed up."

Payton Thorne has a scholarship offers from Western Michigan.
